The company: Clickatell is one of the world’s largest communication aggregators specializing in SMS services. Clickatell is a Sequoia Capital backed mobile communications company headquartered in Redwood City, CA with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg , South Africa. They currently deliver SMS messages through their SMS Gateway to 815+ mobile networks in 220+ countries.
The relationship: We have been working with Clickatell since 2008 to establish scalable and reliable communication channels through country-wide shortcodes, to virtual network operator numbers that allow the worldwide piloting of our technology. Clickatell’s friendly support and rapid provisioning of international numbers has been an important part of crisis response for Haiti and other rapidly unfolding events. We are partnering to further expand low-cost mobile services for eHealth in Asia and Africa.
Smart Mobile

The company: Smart Mobile is an innovative wireless operator in Cambodia. Their mission is to become one of Cambodia’s leading mobile service providers. Using innovative products and services, they aim to provide their customers with a unique brand experience and maintain consistently high customer satisfaction levels.
The relationship: We have been collaborating with Smart Mobile since early 2009, providing low-cost access to SMS applications such as GeoChat country-wide and supporting voice and location-based services for the Cambodian Ministry of Health, other Ministries, and NGOs operating throughout the whole country.
DTAC Thailand

The company: Total Access Communication Public Company Limited or “DTAC” is one of the leading telecommunication services providers in Thailand. They are the second largest GSM mobile phone provider in Thailand.
The relationship: DTAC provides short-code support for our platform across Thailand, where it is used by Ministry of Health staff to communicate amongst themselves as well as using it as a channel for automated alerts and reports. DTAC supports these projects by lowering the cost for its subscribers to interact with our tools.
Lao ETL

The company: Lao ETL Communications is Lao’s largest mobile operator. Their mission is committed to serving society, assuring national safety, and comprehensively strengthening its organizational quality.
The relationship: Lao ETL is deploying our tools for nationwide reach as part of their innovative approach to social responsibility and in support of the public health efforts of the Government of Laos. **These are just highlights and not a complete list. InSTEDD interfaces with multiple aggregators, in-country mobile operators and virtual network operators depending on the needs of each project.
Cisco

The company: Cisco Systems, Inc is a multinational corporation headquartered in San Jose, California, that designs and sells consumer electronics, networking, voice, and communications technology and services.
The relationship: In October of 2010, Cisco awarded a seed grant to InSTEDD for the development of technology designed to improve the resilience of community-level disaster response. This grant was for the development of a program to support shared safety, selfreliance and situational awareness during a public crisis in the Bay Area. InSTEDD designed, developed, and pilot tested a tool, called Watchfire, to help the American Red Cross improve their communitylevel disaster response in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The company: Cellcard is one of Cambodia’s leading telecommunications networks. Since 1998, Cellcard has strived to provide subscribers with the highest level of technology and service, which has helped make them the most popular pre-paid mobile phone network within Cambodia. The Cellcard network is constantly upgraded to meet international standards so that they can offer their subscribers the best nationwide coverage possible.
The relationship: We have been collaborating with Cellcard since early 2011, providing low-cost access to SMS applications such as the Malaria Containment Project and GeoChat country-wide for the Cambodian Ministry of Health, other Ministries, and NGOs operating throughout the whole country.
