SUMMARY

The challenges that affect tracking and response to disease spread are deeply rooted and complex. InSTEDD’s past work in health systems worldwide led us to understand that having reliable diagnostic data can change the way we tackle tracking disease burdens and outbreaks. With the right data, we can do things like send training to support clinics in-need or make sure medication and tests are going to where diseases are trending upward. Getting diagnostic data where it’s needed quickly, accurately, and automatically, instead of manually, is a game changer. Google.org saw the potential in connectivity solutions for diagnostics and provided InSTEDD with seed funding to explore the connected diagnostics ecosystem and engage with public and private leaders to determine the gaps and opportunities.
