John Grills is an Engineer with over 35 years experience in the Research and Development Community for the US DoD and NGO Communities, where he specialized in introducing new capabilities, enabled by emerging technology, to the communities served. He held senior level government positions as an Electrical, Mechanical, and General Engineer, and served as a Science Advisor on 4-Star Command Staff, where his principle duties were Technology Transfer & Assessment. Areas of technical expertise include: Open Software Development in support of HiRes GIS-based Enterprise Decision Systems, Sensor and Signal Processing R&D with an emphasis on systems design and prototype development, Laboratory Data Acquisition Systems Development, Experimental Design and Finite Element Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling. Well-versed in Military Acquisition and Technology Transfer Mechanisms. Management skills include: Building & Managing High-Performance Teams, Technical Program Management, Proposal Development, Legislative Engagement, and Building Rapid Rapport. Hobbies include: Classic Automobile Restoration, Home Remodeling, Woodworking, and Sailing. He hopes to one day retire to his sailboat in a remote location where he can continue to hone his MacGyver skill-set.
